Great Stay. A deservingly very poplar and central hotel
We stayed for 11 nights from Wednesday 11 to Sunday 22 June 2008 in a twin room. We booked a package holiday were transfers were included from Ercan Airport so I am unable to comment on how to travel independently to the hotel. However the journey direct by minibus took approximately 40 minutes. When we arrived we were welcomed and offered a complementary drink.
We had booked a superior room and were allocated a room on the third floor in the new (middle) block. The room was very nice, comfortable and very clean. There were twin beds, plenty of wardrobe space, flat screen TV, the usual hotel furnishings and a balcony with table and chairs. The en-suit bathroom had a shower over the bath and a hairdryer. However if you have mobility difficulties you would need to make the hotel aware as our block although recently constructed did not have a lift (whereas other others do) and although it wasn’t usually a problem for us the approximately 70 steps did on occasion get a bit tiring due to the heat. Please note during our stay part of our L shaped block while completed was still unoccupied and looked liked it required some finishing off, i.e. the railings were not on the balconies. This was not a problem for us and we were not aware of any building works taking place during our stay.
The hotel appears to have expanded over the years and currently consists of 3 blocks. At the front is the original block with reception, lounge area and a computer with free internet access. Beyond that are the two additional blocks, the middle one having the restaurant and bar on the ground floor ( while we were staying only the outside patio area was used for breakfast and lunch) and the third block having seating area and games (Table tennis, etc) on the ground floor. Despite the expansion the hotel has retained a large garden area. There are two swimming pools separated by a bar area. There are sun loungers. The gardens are beautifully maintained with lawns, palm trees (providing some shade) and flowers.
The hotel is located in Kyrenia itself on a main road opposite a sports field. It is an easy, 15 minute walk approximately along pavements to the harbour. The majority of the walk is flat but there is a slope down to the harbour itself. Within a couple of minutes of the hotel there is about 4 cafes/ restaurants and a few of shops such as a couple of corner type shops and a pharmacy. In the opposite direction (turning right coming out at the front of the hotel) there is a supermarket. Therefore there are nearby options if one does not want to walk into the centre of town.
We stayed on a bed and breakfast bases. The breakfast is served daily from 7.30am to 10am. The breakfast is self service and included a good variety of choice. There were cereals, yogurt, fruit, a selection of cheeses and cold meats, cooked breakfast (that changed daily), selection of bread and pastries and hot and cold drinks. We ate a snack at lunchtime at the hotel a couple of times and found that was good. However we did not have an evening meal there as we prefer to eat out on holiday.
The staff service is very good and very friendly. They were very helpful when my husband became ill as they gave advice regarding pharmacy and also offered to call a doctor. They have a customer services rep that goes round the tables at breakfast checking that everything is alright. The hotel itself appears a very popular choice with many people being return visitors year after year. The balance felt right with many of the regulars enjoying chatting with the staff however it was not intrusive as it was equally ok for us who prefer to be independent and found the staff there when we needed them.
The hotel provides entertainment on some evenings. While we were there Euro 2008 Football was on and they put up a large screen in part of the bar area for people who wanted to watch. They also had themed evenings such as an Elvis night, Cypriot night a couple of evenings each week. We did not attend but when we could hear the music from our room. So that maybe something to consider if it’s your thing or not.
We felt that the hotel was a great option as we wanted to stay in walking distance of the harbour but it also offered excellent facilities for when we wanted to have lazy days. The hotel is very nicely maintained and run to a good standard. We would be very happy to return again or to recommend it to friends and family. It was our first time in North Cyprus and we were unsure what to expect but we had a wonderful time and the hotel’s facilities contributed to this.

Perfect for a relaxing holiday!!!
My husband and i have just returned from a two week break to the Pia Bella hotel and cannot fault it at all. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were cleaned daily and were spotless. The pools and garden were also beautifully maintained.
I understand that there are extensions underway at the moment, but we were undistrubed by anything which was going on.
We were on a bed and breakfast basis, but opted for half board for the last five days. The choice of food was good - particularly at breakfast.
The other guests staying at the hotel were also very friendly and we made some really good friends.
My husband (Turkish) and I were not that keen on North Cyprus itself, but loved staying at the Pia Bella. My in-laws joined us for the second week and also loved the hotel.
We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for somewhere relaxing.

This is a wonderful hotel
My husband and I have just returned from a two week stay at the Pia Bella hotel and cannot fault it at all. The staff were very friendly, helpful and genuine. The hotel and rooms were spotless, and the pool and gardens beautifully maintained.
We had friends visit us at the hotel and my husbands parents joined us for the second week of our holiday - they also loved the hotel.
We were on a bed and breakfast basis but opted for half board for the last five days, and we were not disappointed. The breakfast spread was lovely with something for everyone.
We understand that there is extension work going on, but were not bothered by it at all.
The rooms were cleaned daily and the cleaning staff were friendly and helful also.
This is a wonderful hotel for anyone looking for a relaxing holiday. The other guests at the hotel were very friendly and we made some really good friends there.

What a pleasure...
We had a two week stay at your hotel, on a b&b basis.
What a pleasure to be offered a drink from the bar free of charge to soon as we entered reception.
Every one of your staff could not do enough to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
Zehra, the lady who comes around to make sure everthing is ok really knows her job.
Thankyou,we will be back.

"maybe next year"
Northern Cyprus…..who goes there for a holiday?
Anyone who wants a less crowded, hassle free, safe, sunny and enjoyable time. Also, anyone who may be addicted to casinos, as most hotels have one attached to them.
I have just returned from 2 weeks at the PIA BELLA hotel in Kyrenia.
It was the first trip abroad that I have taken on my own, and I couldn’t have made a better choice. Such a FRIENDLY, comfortable and WELCOMING hotel.
I flew from Heathrow airport to Ercan, on a scheduled flight with Cyprus Turkish airlines, which involved a touch down at Izmir (Turkey) for just under an hour, so the overall flight was about 6 hours. When you think about it, it is probably shorter than if you flew to Larnaca, as you then have a road journey of about one and a half hours to get to your hotel, and it's only about 45 minutes from Ercan to Kyrenia. Some people worry about this stopover in Turkey, but the hour soon passes if you have a book to read or a sudoku to puzzle over. On the return journey, an official came onboard to check our passports and boarding passes. Drinks and a meal was provided on the long leg of the flight, and also a snack and drinks were provided on the short leg too.
Arriving at Ercan airport was trouble free and quick.
After being met by the Anatolian Sky rep, we were away from the airport within about 20 minutes…..no waiting around for an hour for other flights to arrive when you come on chartered flights which all arrive within minutes of each other!
Our arrival at the PIA BELLA was late, at about 1am.
My first impression when I walked in, was that it smelt smokey….not good being a non smoker, BUT I found out the next evening that it had been/and was an open log fire burning at the other end of the lounge…..lovely! (But it was too warm for the fire to be lit after that!)
We were shown to the lounge and offered drinks “on the house” while we filled in our arrival slips for reception. Everyone chatted and there was no rush for us to go to our rooms. When ready, at about 2am, I was shown to my room, and given instructions how to set the safety deposit box, which cost just £5 for the fortnight.
I had a standard room which overlooked the hotel’s sports ground. It was a very spacious room with all facilities including tea making and a mini bar, and the bathroom had soap, shampoos, conditioners and hairdryer.
Towels were changed every day and sheets must have been changed 3 or 4 times or more in the fortnight.
Superior rooms are available, which I think are in the newer building which overlooks the swimming pool.
Breakfast starts at the leisurely hour of 7-30am, with a very good selection of food to suit everyones taste. Cooked breakfast was good too.
Each day during breakfast, a lady came round to everyone, asking if everything was ok, so if there were any problems, she would deal with them.
I was on a B&B basis, so ate out each evening, but had a meal in the hotel lounge bar twice. The choice was good, and the food was excellent…especially the Lemon glazed chicken….and the price was not expensive.
People on half board must choose their main dish for evening meal and write on a board by mid day.
Drinks from the bar were not at all expensive….hotels usually rip you off with costly drinks, but the Pia Bella is NOT guilty of this offence.
As it was March, the poolside bars were not open, but the waiters came round the pools, and brought drinks to you…..always with a smile!
The cheeriest waiter is Mustafa, the barman in the lounge, who seems to work very hard and long hours, yet always had a happy face, talked to everyone by name, and made sure your glass was always full.
There were many different people at the reception desk, and they never ignored you when you passed by.
Being a smaller hotel, there is a much more friendly atmosphere at the Pia Bella.
The majority of the guests were in the older age group, but one family with children arrived at the Easter weekend.
Position wise, the PIA BELLA is not on the sea front, but about 15 to 20 minutes walk to the town centre and harbour. Quite a safe and easy walk with shops and cafes etc on the way.
I never saw any beggars on the streets, and was not once hassled by anyone.
There are plenty of cafes and restaurants for meals. The more expensive ones are by the harbour.
Food always seemed to be hot, well presented, and usually accompanied with bread. Behind the Pia Bella, is a restaurant called “Blue Rose”, run by a very nice English lady.
Down the road from the hotel is “Mollies” for real English food.
A nice Chinese restaurant is also quite nearby.
“Peanuts” is about half way into the town centre…good choice (Turkish and English) plus delicious sweets like black forest gateau!!
A good cheap café is on the right just before you reach the town centre “roundabout”…nice fish there.
In the square behind the doves statue are a group of cafes…cheapish…I only tried the “Café Rouge”, but wished I hadn’t, as I was ignored for about 20 minutes before being asked what I wanted, then the lamb chops were tough as old boots!!!….wish I’d walked out quicker and gone elsewhere!!
Plenty to see on the excursions…Nicosia, Famagusta, Karpas “pan handle” area, Bellapais, St. Hilarion castle(only the fittest can reach the top of this one, and I did!! Phew!!!)
To sum up, I could find no faults at all with the PIA BELLA hotel, and I’d recommend it to anyone. There seems to be a lot of returning guests, which says it all…..and I hope that I may be one of them quite soon…”maybe next year”!!

Loved Hotel Pia Bella
Recently stayed at the Pia Bella - what a lovely hotel, such helpful friendly staff. Ali and others made us feel at ease from the minute we walked in - reception staff incredibly helpful, great breakfast although some people were complaining. (Theres always one!) Would recommend the Yildiz Taxi, turn left through the front door, cross over and a couple of minutes down the street. They were reliable, friendly and good price. Eat at Beyti's - takes a little finding but ask directions - well worth it, food is excellent - ask to eat inside, there is air con.. Peanuts is good for the views, take your camera, food not bad. Niazzi's food is excellent but a little more expensive than the others.
Loads of places to visit, too

Highly Recommended
We stayed at Pia Bella in august 2007 for 2 weeks and I have to say this was one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in and well deserves its rating, there is no doubt that a lot of money has been spent on this family run and owned hotel, its of a very high standard but we are a little worried that in continuing to make it larger it may loose the personal touch that it has now, the new rooms over the soon to be opened refurbished restaurant are a very high standard (the management were very happy to show us round), and indeed with the new indoor pool, fitness centre, Turkish baths, business centre and a small conference room, along with the casino next door, you may well find the facilities are to good to ever venture out and with another new block planned to the rear of the car park this will be a large hotel and it would be a shame if it lost the atmosphere it has at the moment
The staff really make this hotel, they are very helpful and friendly and nothing is to much trouble reception is very comfy and check in is fast and professional, you are treated to a drink in the bar on the house when you arrive and your bags are taken to your room, we booked a superior room and it was very well appointed with an en-suite bath/shower and complementary shampoo/shower gel and plenty of towels, there is a fridge/mini bar and, whoopee ! a kettle with tea and coffee, (I have this thing about kettles, read my other reviews?) you do have to pay extra for milk which I found a bit cheeky seeing as they advertise this free but it is kept topped up and its not expensive, there is a small balcony and either a pool or semi mountain view.
The bar area is really nice, all outside and beautifully kept, with sofas and plenty of chairs for relaxing and you are waited on at your table, eating at the moment is done outside the restaurant as this was closed for the refurb, its all clean but you do have to choose your table well as there are trees overhanging and the odd bird!!! the food is good and I would imagine it will be even better with the scope the new restaurant will give the menu, we were half board so the set menu was in with the price and this was a much cheaper way of doing it, you start with soup and then help yourself from the extensive salad meze, then there is a main course with 2 options and a sweet, the menu is set weekly so it was repeated on the second week but we didnt have a problem with any of it, breakfast was a selection of cereals, toast, cold meats, fruit, yoghurt, and limited hot food, we would have liked bacon to be on the menu more and some brown sauce would have been nice !
Both the pools are nice and the waiters come round a lot for drinks orders so you dont have to move to far, the only thing missing at the top pool are toilets and you have to either drag yourself to reception or back to your room !
We hired a car from the hotel for 3 days and the rates are very competitive, just dont expect anything with to much poke?

Pia Bella was a great place to stay.
The hotel was well maintained and clean. The rooms were spacious and well presented, the lobby, pools, restaurant and communal areas were attractive. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, speaking a good standard of English. The restaurant food was of a high standard and varied and could be booked on the night if you don't want to do half board.
The hotel operates a card system to add any hotel charges. We thought the prices were reasonable and the bill was accurate.
The hotel is situated about 15-20 minutes walk away from Kyrenia. I felt very safe in Kyenia (no hassle).
A caution for people with walking difficulties -the hotel is well paved and has lifts, but outside the streets are not very well lit and pavements uneven. That said, it's about 2.50 - 3 for a taxi.
Finally, this hotel has a reputation for returning customers and gets booked up very quickly. I'm not surprised.
